supplied by Street or Track!
Shaun's 1966 Mustang (Owner of Street or
Track)
When purchased this car was showing the signs of
a 10 year old stock restoration. The paint was (and still is) beautiful
but the rest of it was worn out. The springs were saggy, the power
steering sloppy and leaking and the engine had no power. Still, it is a
California car so the body is 99% perfect. Pretty much all the sloppy,
leaky stuff has been replaced over the years. This car currently handles,
drives and stops great!
Since starting Street or Track this car has
become the test mule for all new Street or Track products. What better way
to develop and market a product than to actually use it on your own car!

Lance Coletto's 1967 Mustang
Lance has had this car for over 20 years.
Purchased from his twin brother who had bought it a year earlier from a school
teacher (not a little old lady). It was in completely stock trim and it took
him about a week to make his first mod (tires and wheels). It's a San José car
and has lived in the Bay Area since it was "born."
The car was his daily driver for about 6 years,
but then was parked for about 13 years (inside) until he began a restoration in
1998. The goal at that time was to build a car that handled well. When he got
it back on the road in the summer of '98 he took it to the Nor Cal Shelby Club
Mini Nationals at Sears Point, CA. He took it out for a parade lap and his goal
changed: He was hooked and the car was destined for Open Track! He took it back
off the road and began to paint it (it wasn't fit for Open Track).
The
289ci motor is connected to a T5z transmission turning 3.55 rear gears.
Traction and stability is put to the ground through 16x8 American Racing Torq
Thrust II wheels wrapped in 245/45/16 Kumho Victoracers.

Mark William's 1968 Mustang
The car is from
South Carolina, he found it in Sterling Heights, Michigan. It sat on the lift
in his Dad's garage for three years while he collected parts and money to get
it back on the road. When he got the car the body and seats were in great
shape. Everything else was a mess. It looked good but driving it was an
exercise in finding your personal panic threshold. The engine was tired, the
brakes were shot, and the wiring was a mess. She just needed someone to love
her again. I think I'm going to tear up.
Some upgrades
that have been made include a 4-speed top loader with a Hurst Competition
shifter, 9" rear with a 3.25:1 Traction loc, larger front sway bar, new
springs all around, refreshed interior, and hidden wiring in the engine bay
along with moving the battery to the trunk and Centerline Meteor wheels.

Jason & Carol
Kolk's 1999 Camaro Z28 Hardtop, LS1, T56 - Sponsored by Street or Track LLC
Jason and Carol bought this low mile Camaro in
January '08 and built it to compete in the SCCA sanctioned Solo (autocross)
events E Street Prepared (ESP). Simply put, this class allows you to
change to any shocks, coil-over springs, and sway bars you'd like as well as
replacing certain control arms and bushings. On the driveline side you can
use any engine/trans/axle that came in that type of car. You can also use
any induction, exhaust, and engine control systems you want. Any size
wheels and tires you can fit are allowed as well. Some other things are
allowed, but those are the basics.
This Camaro tears up the track on 17x11 C4 Corvette ZR1 wheels and 315/35/17
Hoosier A6 race tires! Spikes of 1.4G's have been recorded in the turns!
WOW!
Courses are typically about 45 seconds long and include 10 turns and slaloms.
The challenge is that the course is different each weekend and in two-day events
the course changes each day. It's really a test of who can learn the
course first and execute immediately. One other important fact is that if
you hit a cone with your car a two-second penalty gets added to your time!
The main event of the summer is the SCCA Solo National Championships at the end
of September. The event is currently held in Topeka Kansas at Heartland Park.
Over two days each driver gets three timed runs on two courses without any
practice runs, although you can walk the course in the morning. The
fastest run from each course gets added together to determine the National
Champion for each class. Roughly 1200 drivers compete in 64 classes.
Last year Carol fortunate to come away from Nationals with her first
Championship over top of a couple of other past Champions in A Stock Ladies (ASL)
driving a 2006 Pontiac Solstice GXP for the GM Performance Division. This
year she will be competing in ESPL while Jason and his co-driver also compete in
ESP. Jason's best finish came last year driving an Evo in Street Touring
Ultra. He finished 11th out of 49 drivers and received his first trophy at
the Solo Nationals.
The Kolks typically compete 15 or so weekends a summer. Some of the major
events they attend are the SCCA National Tour and SCCA Pro Solo events that
occur in the mid-west.
Pro Solo events are different in that a drag racing Christmas tree is used to
start two cars simultaneously on mirror image courses! Reaction time is
critical. Each car does 6 runs on each course and then each driver's best
time from each course gets added together to determine the class winner.
Once the main competition is done it's on to the Challenges! Each class
winner goes head to head with each other in a round-robin bracket competition.
There's a system to figure out how much of a head start a Mini gets over a
Corvette and then they race back to the finish line! This is really the
ultimate autocross!

In Milwaukee we had a significant amount of rain. We also didn’t hve
sufficient Hoosier Rain tires to stay competitive and instead drove on Falken
Azenis. As a result, we bought some lightly used Hoosier rain tires from a
fellow competitor so we’ll never be in this position again!

Rule
changes for next year include allowing camber adjustable control arms.
This should be a big help to the Camaro since we can only get -2 degrees.
Hopefully we can design arms for -3.5 or so.
This will really help with front tire wear on those expensive Hoosiers!

Mark Sellers's
1966 Mustang
Mark bought
the car in 1994, started the restoration in 97 and finished it in 2005. It has
way more track time then street, but has been pretty much flawless since getting
it back on the road. Mark owns a set of our Adjustable Strut Rods and
writes, "The adjustable strut rods have been one of the better mods I did!
Makes it so easy to align the front". Thanks Mark!
