Boats are subjected to some of the roughest motion, which affects the oil pan. As a boat moves through the water it pitches for and aft, rolls side to side, and pounds up and down. All this movement affects the oil in the oil pan. Imagine holding a ten gallon fish tank filled with oil in your lap as you’re pounding out the waves. It’s easy to see how the pickup could become uncovered and oil pressure could be lost momentarily. An Accusump can protect the engine from damage during these times. In addition, boats sit at the dock for long periods between use so the oil drains out from between the bearing surfaces resulting in a dry start.
